International Fellows Graduation Dinner for the Class of 2017

On June 7th, the International Student Management Office (ISMO) at the National Defense University held their annual International Fellows Graduation Dinner for the Class of 2017 at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington DC.

The evening was a celebration of our international students’ achievements and was hosted by Major General Frederick M. Padilla, President, NDU and Dr. Jack Godwin, Director, ISMO.

Two recent graduates, Brigadier General Mohammad Ali Smadi of Jordan and Brigadier General Akhtar Arfan of Pakistan, were featured speakers addressing how they have grown, both personally and professionally, because of their experience at NDU.

A highlight of the event was the awarding of the International Awards for Security Cooperation and Understanding in honor of Dr. Sheila Ronis and Ambassador Walter Stadtler. Dr. Ronis (Chair, NDU Foundation) and Ambassador Stadtler (Special Advisor, NDU Foundation) have worked tirelessly over the years supporting NDU’s international fellows and donating their time and talents to the ISMO program.
